Greetings, Friend. My name is Jennifer Cameron Kellett. I'm a mother, a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, a friend, and a widow. I'm also a proud Memphian who has been practicing law for the past 25 years. I lost my husband, Brian, to metastatic melanoma in 2020 at the end of his valiant four-year battle against it. During our nearly 20-year marriage, we were blessed with three beautiful daughters: Abigail (19), Catherine (17), and Elizabeth (9), and they continue to be the lights of my life. We share our home with our Australian Shepherd named Rascal, a Mini Aussie Doodle we call Rosie, and Prince the cat.
In September 2022, I reached the milestone age of 50. I also learned that my employer was closing its Memphis office and that I would soon be unemployed. Although I quickly landed at a really great law firm, my body began sending me indisputable messages that it was time for a change. Significant chest pain, heart palpitations, dizziness, and skyrocketing blood pressure all had me convinced that I was either going to have a stroke or go into cardiac arrest, it turns out that all symptoms were more likely due to my newly-diagnosed panic disorder. Yes, I was having panic attacks. And no, it wasn't just in my head.
So, where to go from there? One thing I knew for sure was that I wanted to make a difference in the world. A real difference for real people. I also wanted to continue performing my main role in life as a hands-on parent to my girls.
I decided to begin gathering information, exploring my core values and looking at others' needs in my community, and thinking about how those ingredients might be combined so that I could put my knowledge and skills to use in some meaningful way. As I asked, "What now?," I realized that others were asking the same question about issues big and small -- issues I have already personally navigated. And that's how I landed here, to hopefully help you, too, figure out what happens now.
